Many insurance companies have informed medical practices that telehealth visits will not be covered after June 30th. Special-needs patients who are immune compromised, however, could be at higher risk for contracting COVID-19 and until there is a treatment, may be better served while sheltering in place.
The medical community is asking Congress to support the Health Care at Home Act to ensure ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) plans cover all medically necessary visits delivered via telehealth for the duration of the pandemic and allow physicians to decide if a patient requires an in-person appointment or a telehealth visit.
