NeurAbilities team members will be presenting at this upcoming Autism NJ 40th Anniversary conference. Two presentations, see below for details…

Description
Interest in value-based care (VBC) programs is on the rise in all areas of healthcare. Payers seek models of care delivery that account for quality care, progress toward outcomes, efficiency, and cost savings for all behavior health programming. Specific to autism therapy, there is an emphasis on treatments that can demonstrate measurable progress and or overall outcomes. This workshop will review, in a didactic format, a basic understanding of VBC, including analogies for healthcare across other disciplines and diagnoses. Presenters will share ICHOM and BHCOE guidelines and how to implement structured data collection methods for gardening pivotal data points for their practice to account for long term outcomes for value-based care. Participants will learn trends in healthcare and how it relates to autism treatment and service provision.

Speaker
Kathleen Stengel, M.S., BCBA, LBA

Description
Individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) who experience a spectrum of symptoms and comorbid diagnoses benefit from an individualized treatment approach through the implementation of precision medicine and behavior science. Precision medicine for ASD involves identifying biological causes and contributors for each patient’s clinical and behavioral profile which will guide treatment decisions. This workshop will discuss how neurologists and developmental pediatricians rely on a variety of key data points to discriminate between biological and environmental causes of symptoms. Included in this “toolbox” of evidence-based data points is ABA methodologies for distinguishing between operant/functional and biologically driven behaviors and for informing clinical management decisions. Participants will learn how data collection and a successful collaborative interdisciplinary relationship between physicians and behavior analysts can contribute to improved treatment gains and best outcomes for individuals with ASD.
