Kristen Shemak is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a Master of Science in Education. She is a valued member of our NeurAbilities team, providing behavior analysis treatment and supervision in our King of Prussia, PA clinic.
Kristen brings over 10 years of experience working with individuals with neurological and behavioral concerns, as both a direct care clinician in a residential setting and as a BCBA. She has worked with children with a variety of concerns, skill levels and behaviors, in both individual and group settings. She is also a compassionate and communicative leader and clinician.
When asked why she decided to pursue this line of work Kristen shares, “In college I spent the summer working at an Easter Seals camp and really fell in love with the field and helping individuals build the skills necessary to increase their independence. From that moment I knew I wanted to help people in this way as a career.”
Kristen appreciates how each child she works with is unique and learns in different ways. “Having the privilege to help children in our program learn skills and increase their independence is extremely rewarding.”
A common question that Kristen receives in her role is “how can I help my child form friendships and engage in play appropriately on the playground?” Kristen’s response? “Let’s evaluate the social skills your child currently has and work on the ones that are missing. We will first practice using desired skills with staff and then, once mastered, begin to use them in the natural environment, like the playground.”
In Kristen’s spare time she loves to take bike rides with her family. If you see a baby on the back of a bike with a mini boom box, it might just be Kristen!
