Art Therapy
About Art Therapies
Art is a creative process used to help improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being for individuals of all ages. It may help people to regulate mood and emotion, resolve conflicts and increase interpersonal skills.
Painting, drawing, clay, sculpture, and watercolor are some of the types of art used in the session.
Art therapy services may be helpful for children, adolescents, adults, and families to assess and treat:
- Anxiety and depression
- Family and relationship issues
- Social and emotional difficulties
Individual Session
A typical intake session lasts for approximately 45 minutes.
The session observations and treatment recommendations are discussed with the caretaker/individual following the evaluation or through a written report, if requested.
The number of sessions recommended is based on many factors, including age, diagnosis, other current treatments and preferences of the patients. Typically, individuals are encouraged to commit to at least 10 to 12 sessions to make progress toward treatment goals.
