Music Therapy
About Music Therapies
Music therapy may help to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs for people of all ages and abilities. Music provides opportunities for communication, and may be particularly helpful for those who have difficulty expressing themselves with words.
Instrument playing, singing, song writing, lyric analysis and other musical experiences are used in the sessions to achieve established goals.
Music therapy services can:
- Provide opportunities for communication and expression of feelings
- Improve overall physical rehabilitation
- Facilitate movement
- Increase motivation to be engaged in treatment
- Provide emotional support
At NeurAbilities Healthcare, we have music therapists available for individual or group sessions.

Individual Sessions
A typical intake session lasts for approximately 45 minutes.
The session observations and treatment recommendations are discussed with the caretaker/individual following the evaluation or through a written report, if requested.
The number of sessions recommended is based on many factors, including age, diagnosis, other current treatments and preferences of the patients.
Typically, individuals are encouraged to commit to at least 10 to 12 sessions to make progress toward treatment goals.
Group Sessions
A typical intake session lasts for approximately 45 minutes.
The session observations and treatment recommendations are discussed with the caretaker/individual following the evaluation or through a written report, if requested.
Group sessions are scheduled in 10-session cycles throughout the year.
